Custom Crochet-Look Collars: Colour Sampling and Garment Fitting

During development of these crochet-look collars, several details needed checking: one colour was changed, the collar shape was compared with physical patterns, and different sizes were placed on garments to review position and direction. Here are some of those sampling and fitting exchanges.

A colour change and another sample

In one sampling round, the customer asked to change one colour in the collar and make a sample in one selected size. The other requirements were to stay as before. The colour reference was confirmed in the discussion, along with the scope of the resample.

This round focused on how the revised colour worked with the rest of the collar. The shape and other details were not changed at the same time; later feedback continued to address those points separately.

Checking the collar shape against physical patterns

The customer also proposed sending physical patterns and asked for sample approval before production. The photographs show patterns in several sizes, as well as comparisons with actual collar pieces.

The patterns retain the neckline curve, the shapes of both ends and the outer outline. The comparison involves both the overall collar shape and the position of its edge against the pattern.

Reviewing position and direction on garments

The fitting photographs show the collars placed on different garments. Once a flat collar is positioned at the neckline, its appearance also needs to be considered against the garment’s neckline and shoulder shape.

In one piece of feedback, the customer accepted the embroidery appearance in a local area but marked decorative positions and directions in other sizes for further review. That round therefore did not approve all sizes together.

The development side then explained the local arrangement in the different sizes and proposed further checks with the customer. The remaining discussion concerned how those particular positions appeared in each size.
