Decorative drops can be trapped accidentally by a stitch line or facing. The attachment plan must distinguish the narrow carrier band from the hanging elements. Approve the construction with the real base fabric and lining.

    Read the construction

On a labelled sample, mark the band edge, attachment zone and first free drop. Inspect both sides to see how each motif is connected. Do not sew through a hanging piece merely because the tape appears flat on a catalogue photograph.

    Test the intended placement

Pin the tape to the intended hem or panel, then sew a trial with the planned seam and lining. Turn the piece upright and move it gently. Check whether the drops hang independently, interfere with closures or reveal the band in a way the design did not intend.

    Write the approval record

Retain the stitched reference with stitch placement, motif orientation and permitted join positions. Count usable lengths after allocating complete decorative repeats. If the carrier is too narrow for the seam, revise the seam or choose another trim.
