Sequin Scallop Trim on a Hem: Align the Arcs Before Cutting

Large sequin arcs draw the eye to an uneven join. A hem that is the right length can still look wrong if the first and last scallops meet at different heights. Lay out the complete circumference before choosing cut positions.
Read the construction
Measure the repeat between equivalent high points on a relaxed straight sample, not from one random sequin to the next. Mark the top attachment line and the lowest points of several arcs. Note whether the repeat changes around a curved or stretched base.
Test the intended placement
Pin the trim around a full-size hem mock-up. Place the most visible front point first, then follow the actual edge to the back and side seams. Photograph where two ends meet; decide whether a complete motif can close the loop or a discreet transition is necessary.
Write the approval record
Record the accepted start point, arc phase at each seam, join method and cut allowance. Calculate required length from the full layout, allowing for a verified join rather than arbitrary extra metres. Do not promise perfect matching if the measured circumference and repeat cannot meet.
